Blood Orange Brownies

  • 4 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • ½ cup FIORE Blood Orange Olive Oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp. FIORE Vanilla Balsamic Vinegar *
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees after placing oven rack in center position. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan. Melt the chocolate (in a double boiler or microwave). Add the oil and stir until smooth. Cool completely. Stir in the sugar and vinegar. Beat in the eggs until creamy. Stir in the flour.

Completely stir in chopped nuts with a spoon. Pour the batter into the greased pan, scraping the bowl clean with a rubber spatula. Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Bake 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely before serving. Cut into squares. Makes 24 brownies.

*Vanilla extract can be substituted, if necessary

(If you really have no time, just add the Blood Orange Olive Oil instead of vegetable oil into a box or bag mix of brownies --- the blood orange will liven it right up!)
